Regarding the regulations in Germany/Europe...they are strict for normal people, but the inspectors are paid by the conglomerate. For example organic food - peanut butter. FOODSPRING is a big scam, that escapes the regulatory process by getting their peanuts from china, have them packed in UK, sell it as "organic" and I know people who have had severe reactions from it. One of the reasons is that the soil used to grow peanuts, which are legumes, is shared with another plant/legume/something else I don't remember now. There is cross-contamination and peanuts allergies/contaminations are often experienced in non-organic farming.
Since they are packed in the UK, they can label it organic, coming from non-EU.
The company is the one who is paying for the inspection and if the inspector doesn't give the ok, next time he won't be invited to the party and doesn't get paid.

Currently, many do. But initially, free masonry was something else. René Guénon explains that. He is kind of the only one in his field I think. He explained that freemasonry was meant to be an esoteric path for initiation. In Metaphysics, as in that cannot really be explained with words. Two of his important books are "The crisis of the modern world", and "The reign of quantity and the signs of time" (to be read in this order, otherwise it's tough to read Reign - Reign is a bit hard to read anyway, especially the first 6 chapters but I think it's worth reading).
